Shri P B Rangarao holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Regional Engineering College, Warangal, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management from XIME, Bengaluru. He has also completed a Leadership Development Program from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ahmedabad.
He joined HAL on July 17, 1995, as part of the 3rd batch of Design Trainees. Over the course of his 30 year career at HAL, he has served in several key roles across departments including Plant Maintenance, ALH Manufacturing Shops, Ch/Ck Transmission and Blade Shop, Head of Ch/CK project, Outsourcing, and Planning. Prior to taking over charge as CEO(Helicopter Complex), he served as as Executive Director, Helicopter Division.
Some of his achievements during his tenure in Hindustan Aeronautics Limited are Operationalized the new Helicopter Division at Tumkuru, leading to the production rollout of the first batch of Light Utility Helicopters (LUH),Successfully commissioned LCH-LSP Bases for the Indian Army and Indian Air Force, He was instrumental in concluding the 25 ALH Mk III contract for IA in Mar 2024 and 156 LCH SP contract for IA and IAF in Mar 2025,Re-established supply chains for Cheetah and Chetak helicopters following the closure of Airbus facilities at France, Enhanced production capacity through effective public-private partnerships, addressed obsolescence challenges through focused indigenization initiatives, Streamlined the manufacturing processes for improved production efficiency of ALH components.
