Wheels and Brakes
Description: Wheels & Brakes are used for taxing, take-off, landing, stopping and parking. Brakes technology having Metallo-ceramic type brake pads and Carbon – Carbon type brake pads are available, which is globally at par. High metallurgical quality close die forgings followed by shot peening are used for reliable product. Products are designed, developed and certified successfully meeting to the requirements of MIL-W-5013, TSO-C-62d/TSO-C-135. Wheel Strength Test Facility, Wheel Fatigue Roll Test Facility and Brake Test dynamometer facility available within the HAL.
Salient Features:
- Metallo-ceramic and Carbon-Carbon type Brake technology available.
- Dynamic Landing Loads: Upto 40 Tons.
- Brake Kinetic Energy: Up to 60 MJ.
- Developed successfully for Fixed-wing platforms, Rotary-wing platforms and UAV. Being used for Re-usable Shuttle Vehicle (Orbital Re-entry Vehicle) also.
- Exporting to IAI, Israel.

Air Brake Actuator
Air Brake Actuator operates Air Brakes of Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas to arrest the speed of aircraft during flight manoeuvre. This is a double acting differential area type hydraulic Actuator with in-Built Co-Axial Dual core LVDT for open loop control that is initiated from the cockpit by the pilot for position sensing. Actuator is hydraulically controlled with both ports for its extension and retraction. This is Secondary Flight control Actuator.
