Aircraft Overhaul Division Nasik

Welcome to Aircraft Division Nasik of HAL (MiG Complex).

HAL Aircraft Division Nasik established in the year 1964 for license manufacture of MiG-21 FL aircraft & K-13 Missiles, is located at Ojhar, 24 kilometers from Nasik and approximately 200 kilometers from Mumbai in the state of Maharashtra.

Since then the division has manufactured and overhauled various MiG variants;MiG-21 E7FL, MiG-21M, MiG-21BlS, MiG-27M & Su-30 MKI aircraft. Along with this, the division also caters for repair and design support for other Russian origin aircrafts.

The Nasik Division is well laid out on a built up area of 1,48,20,000 Sq. meters having state-of-the-art plant /machinery /equipment and infrastructure. It has well-qualified and trained manpower in different areas of science and technology.

With the induction of Su-30 MKI aircraft manufacturing project, the Aircraft division Nasik is de-lineated in to two divisions wise – Aircraft manufacturing division ( AMD ) for Manufacturing activities of new project Su-30 MKI and Aircraft Overhaul Division (AOD) for Repair and Overhauling activities of MiG 21 variants and Su-30 MKI for its smooth functioning and operations.

Aircraft Overhaul Division, Nasik started functioning independently from 15th May 2002 and currently involved in following activities: –

Repair overhaul of MiG-21 aircraft variants and their aggregates & rotables.
Repair overhaul of aggregates & rotables of MiG 27M
Up-gradation and Repair and overhaul of MiG-21 BIS
Support to HAL, Non-HAL made Russian origin aircraft in terms of Life extension, Modifications, Site Repairs and Investigations.
Export of MiG spares to Vietnam, Malaysia, Peru, Myanmar and Romania.
Su-30 MKI ROH & Modification

So far the Division has overhauled more than 1800 aircraft of MiG variants. With the expertise gained over the last 6 decades, the division has already made its presence felt in the global market and is fully geared up for meeting any challenging task in the domestic and the international market. The Division has setup the facilities for Repair and Overhauling of Su-30 MKI Aircraft and now is geared up for Su-30 MKI ROH activity.

At present the Overhaul Division has around 900 employees and 400 officers.

The Division has full-fledged infrastructure, facilities and systems for ensuring optimum level of Customer satisfaction for the products and services rendered. The major areas include:

Overhaul / Repair of Rotables
The Division takes up the overhaul/repair of the entire range of Electrical, Instrument, Mechanical and Armament Rotables.

Supply of Spares and other major units
The Division manufactures and supplies the entire range of spares required for first and second-line servicing of aircraft at the IAF bases. Canopies, Flexible Rubber Fuel Tanks, Main and Nose Undercarriages, Ejection seats and Ground Support / Ground Handling Equipment are a few of the items supplied.

Site Repair
The Division undertakes site repair of Aircraft at the IAF bases by deputing site repair teams and experts.

Defect Investigation/Failure Analysis
The aggregate that is received on premature withdrawal from the units is studied and the causes for defects/failures are investigated. Repetitive cases are taken up for in-depth study and modifications are incorporated in the units to minimize the recurrence of such defects/failures in future.

Product Training
The Division conducts various training programs for customers in specialized areas for better utilization of the products. The programs cover Weapon Systems, Auto Pilot Systems, Electrical Systems and Hydraulic Systems.

Positioning of Service Engineers
The Division has posted Service Engineers at various IAF bases to closely liaise and assess the requirement of the customers. Based on the feed-back received from these Service Engineers, the Division renders adequate support for fully utilizing the products.
